Unique in the best way possible
There is no one like Tamsyn Muir and Moira Quirk has to be one of the best narrators out there.
If these two would team up forever to write and narrate books I'd never read anything else ever again.

Am besten zweimal anhören
... dann ergibt alles einen Sinn (dafür 1 Punkt Abzug). Packend, schwarzhumorig, gothic, mit verschmitzten Pop Culture Referenzen, sympathisch-creepy Charakteren und echt guten Plottwists. Alte Bekannte und facettenreiche neue. Ich kann Teil 3 kaum erwarten!!!

Wow, confusing, amazing, YES!
Beautifully read! I am now a really big fan of Moira Quirk.
Aside from that the story is amazing if a little hard to get into at the beginning.
Harrow’s mind is a bit jumbled and confused and so is the narration in some flashback chapters but it makes so much sense in hindsight that the conclusion has a real nice pay off!
We delve deeper into the mythology of Lyctorhood and the King Undying so strap in for necromancy, millennia of drama, rivalry and scheming with Harrowhark smack in the middle of it.
Also, side note, you will want to have the 3rd part immediately but you’ll have to wait til 2021 so keep that in mind ;)

Highlight
Das erste Buch der Reihe war schon toll, das zweite toppt es noch mal um einiges. Die erste Hälfe verlangt einiges vom Zuhörer. Beim zweiten Mal höre habe ich es erst richtig genießen können und wertschätzen wie gut es geschrieben ist. Dazu kommt eine super Sprecherin die das Buch zusätzlich zu einem besonderen Erlebnis macht.

Worthy Follow-up
While the second book in the locked tomb series continues almost directly after the first, it does throw a few narrative curveballs which might make getting back into the story somewhat difficult. Additionally, the bit overlong third act explains some things but raises a whole lot more questions. The performance of the narrator is still superb.

One of my absolute favourites.
I have read and listened to many good books, but this series has to be somewhere on the absolute top.
The characters are amazing (yes, all of them, there was not one that bored me even in the slightest), the humour is spot on and had me snorting or laughing out loud many times. Story and worldbuilding...chef's kiss. An absolute masterpiece imo, I can't give enough praise (in case you didn't notice lol). Big thumbs up to the reader, too - she's perfect for the job.
Can't wait for Nona & Alecto.

This was special torture!
The first book was not easy to listen. I thought it not possible to make this one even more difficult and was proven wrong.
Harrow is a lunatic genius. If you can keep on for 10 hours somewhere after there it begins to make sense what she did and why everything is different from the first book.
The POVs are so utterly confusing. I did not even grasp what happened in the epilog.
I liked the characters. Some have more focus than in the first book and for that are to be understood better.
The author writes poesie about pink flesh, black tint and yellow gue like Tolkien writes about trees and mountains. Very detailed is an understatement. I had to stop two times and listen a gay romance and a YA fantasy book, because I couldn't go on with Harrow rambling about tissue, bone and fanagique.
I'm so very scared for the next book.

Keine gute Fortsetzung.
Leider ist der zweite Teil nicht so das man ihn zuende
hören möchte. Die Story ist etwas konfus.

Tedious
Nice touch: The main character is insane, and only the reader knows why (after reading Gideon, otherweise this story doesn't even remotely make sense). But for 2/3 of the book? In two diffferent layers of reality? Because that isn't confusing enough, why not mix up the chronological order too, and bloat it all with repetitive descriptions. I really don't need to be reminded of people's titles every other minute, thanks. I thought it might be more engaging the second time, but no, it isn't.
